Have you been noticing weird things going on in your body like hormonal changes, or weight gain you can’t take off, fatigue, or mild memory loss?? Well, I did and learned a lot about how I could regulate my DHEA Sulfate level to get back to feeling like a normal human being!
I’ve noticed since I was pregnant with Sawyer (6 years ago) that my memory was “zapped” during that time. After giving birth my memory level recovered to some degree but not to where it had been prior to being pregnant. For years now I’ve been feeling like I was literally “losing my mind”, forgetting things, not being focused on things, feeling a little “flighty” or “air-headed” from time to time, and generally just not having it all together in my head.
In addition to that, I’ve been experiencing some weird hormonal things over the last year but a lot more in the last 4-6 weeks. I’ve been wondering “What the heck’s going on with my body?!!” I’m turning 40 in August so I was attributing it to “getting older” and having normal hormone changes. I’ve just felt so weird, not like myself lately that I’ve been getting a little concerned!
Well, to say the least, I have NOT been happy with the way my body has been treating me with all these “symptoms”!!! So I was complaining about this to a very good friend of mine whom I’ve known for over 10 years. She is working with the top people in a company called Univera which makes a lot of herbal products (for lack of a better term). Anyway, she said “I’ll bet your DHEA Sulfate level” is low!! I thought “What in the world is that??” She explained that DHEA is in your cells and it regulates the hormone levels. As we get older our body ages faster and makes less DHEAS.
The symptoms of low DHEAS levels include (any one or all):
* memory loss (whether it be at my age or at age 70+)
* weight gain that we can’t get rid of (whether it be post-pregnancy weight or middle-age weight gain)
* fatigue
* loss of muscle mass and strength
* dark facial hair on chin
* noticeable ear and nose hair (growing more outside than inside like men’s do)
At the age of 25, the body’s DHEA levels begin to decline. By the age of 50 most people only produce 50% of the optimal amount, and by age of 70 the levels fall to between 10 and 15%. A normal level is supposed to be in the 280-380 ug/dl range (not sure what ug/dl stands for). Mine was 124! This explains the fatigue and memory loss I’ve had for so long! (not to mention the other hormonal changes). The good news is that there is an herbal product (doesn’t have any medicines in it so it’s compatible with medications) that I can take that will regulate all that, get me feeling back to normal like I did in my 20s, plus it slows down the aging process so I will look younger much longer than usual!!!
Not only that but it’s 100% absorbed! Let me explain. When we eat or drink anything, a large part of it is expelled from our bodies through waste, what remains goes into the blood stream for the use of our body. Our digestive tract has to break food down about three times to get it to the level at which our body can absorb it. This includes multi-vitamins. The Univera products are produced already at this level so they are 100% absorbed. Nothing is lost! No waste! So taking multi-vitamins are not always giving us everything we think we’re getting since a lot of it is lost in the digestive process. Univera products are considered a “food product” by the FDA, not a drug, because it’s all concentrated foods that are in these products.
I’m sorry this is so long. If you’ve stuck with me this far I really appreciate it! I wanted to share this because I know there are other women out there experiencing these things. If you are, I recommend asking your doctor to write you a prescription to have your DHEA Sulfate level tested (I had my calcium level tested too just to make sure I’m on track in that dept.!). Get your blood taken and see how it comes out. This will be the proof of whether or not your DHEAS level is where it should be or not. Mine is so low I could go into periomenopause anytime! No thanks!
My doctor wants to see me regarding these tests. The great thing is that I don’t have to do everything my doctor tells me to. I already know how to interpret the results so I don’t need to see her. I had to ask the lady who took my blood if I could have a copy of the test results. She had me sign a paper and I went and picked them up (they could mail them too). I’m not going to see my doctor because they are only going to give me a label of what’s going wrong with me and try and run more tests (they called this afternoon and told me this already) and put me on some medication to correct it. I do not want to be on medication because it’s not good for our bodies and I prefer to use natural products that don’t have any side effects, etc. (and actually work!).
So please tell your friends about this. You never know who might be out there wondering “What the heck is going on with me?!”. Have a great day!
