Here are some websites giving away free things (relatively speaking) and I thought you might like to check some of them out!
- Silver Jewelry: The Silver Jewelry Club (www.SilverJewelryClub.com) offers free good quality jewelry online and you just pay the shipping. The reason they do this is to get you interested in buying some of their other pieces which are still very reasonably priced! I love the necklace and pendant I bought. They have a great variety as well. Check them out!
- Business / Home Cards: Vista Print (www.VistaPrint.com) is offering 250 FREE business cards and you pay the shipping. The reason is, once again, to get you interested in buying some of their other products. I’ve bought business cards, home cards, sticky notes and a silver card carrier from them and have found their products of excellent quality! I love the Home Cards (as I call them) because they are so convenient to give a friend or acquaintance who is needing your e-mail address, or phone number, etc. You won’t be disappointed!
- Gently Used Things: If you go to Freecycle.com you can see if there is a local chapter in which you can get used furniture, appliances and many other things. No money is allowed to be exchanged however if you take, you are expected to leave something as well. This non-profit group wishes to promote recycling household items to help the environment by keeping these items out of the landfills.
- Expert Computer Help: The folks at www.protonic.com want to provide free, good quality, prompt help for people having trouble with their computers. Ever have those days when you feel like throwing your computer out the window?! I know I have! These are volunteer experts who are tired of seeing manufacturers of computers provide lousy support for their own products and then charge an arm and leg for better service. Protonic believes in providing good quality service at no charge! They’ll answer questions from hardware glitches to HTML. If nothing else, put them in your FAVORITES so when you do need them, you’ll have them at the click of a button!
- Family Calendar: Here’s a website that will take all of your family members’ schedules and compile them into one calendar! You can access it from any computer, anywhere, with just a personal code. There is the basic free version and an upgrade to a “Plus” version for $10 per month if you want. They will not hound you about this and it’s not required. If you’re needing some organization in schedules then this is it!
- Sheet Music: For those of you who are musically inclined you might be glad to hear about a website that has free downloads of classical music! They have 1,272 pieces including works from Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, Mozart and much more for piano, cello, voice, guitar and more. This is a group of volunteers who love to typeset music for downloads. You can purchase higher quality versions but they do not hound you to do so. Go to www.MutopiaProject.org.
These and a few more were found in the June 1, 2008 edition of Women’s Day magazine.
