About Tonya

Hi, I’m Tonya!  I want to tell you a little bit about myself  and  my background in parenting.

Art and I

I’m 39 years old and a mother of three young children.  Alex is 8, Sawyer is 5 and Kayli is 3.  Alex is adopted from Russia, Sawyer is biological and Kayli is adopted from China.  I’ve been married to my wonderful and supportive husband, Art, for almost 15 years.   We live in Michigan currently and we’ve lived overseas as well as many other places in the U.S.

I am a published author of a cookbook called “Oh! You’ve Got to Try This! Cookbook”.  Quirky, I know, but it’s got some of the best recipes in it!  It was written in an effort to raise funds from its sales for the orphanage donation we had to take with us to China when we adopted Kayli.  The recipes are donated by friends and family members from all over the world!  I asked everyone to send me their favorite recipes and this is the result!

I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Tennessee Technological University.   I learned how to research topics and use the resources available to find the answers to my questions.  Hence, I’ve spent endless hours researching hundreds of questions that moms and dads alike ponder in the day to day rearing of their children.

I’ve been a member of many types of “mom groups” and we’ve all shared countless ideas on topics from potty training to getting our children to eat vegetables.  I’ve read numerous books and been to many parenting classes and seminars to learn as much as I can about how to raise my children the best way possible in today’s society and preparing them for their adult world yet to come.  My website is a compilation of this information for you to sift through and find what would be useful to you in your current situation.

As you may already know, our situations with our children change as they get older and almost daily!  So you’ll want to revisit this website as these new challenges come about.  In addition, there are many resources listed that would save you hours of research on your own.  I’ve listed the ones that have come recommended to me via various sources, they have been personally helpful to me, or look as if they have a great deal of useful information.

From one mom (or parent) to another I wish you many blessings and high leaps over those hurdles of raising your child.  I hope the information in this website helps you in the journey we know as “motherhood”.

Have a blessed day,
Tonya
