Are you trying to save money? Here are some tips of how others are doing it. If you have some ideas, please post them.
- Cash in those gift cards you haven’t used or don’t want. Go to cardavenue.com, swapagift.com or plasticjungle.com.
- If you get a tax refund, consider increasing your deductions on your W-4 so you get less money back in your refund (or owe). This is actually better because you can invest the money in a money market or other savings account and keep the interest you make on it rather than the gov’t keeping the interest on it while they hold it in a bank account for you.
- Get cash for your books at Cash4Books.net. Fill in the appropriate information and they’ll either send you a check in the mail or a deposit in your Paypal account.
- Take a second job for a short term to pay off those credit cards, etc. to get you through those rough patches. Typically food service, a few retail stores, and drug stores hire for the moonlight shift.
- Do some online freelance work at Elance.com. This is where small businesses connect with online professionals to get work done. Such jobs there include: writer, graphic designer, programmer, marketer, and other jobs. All you do is bid on a job and then get paid for what you do best!
- Reduce your auto insurance if your teenager has brought home good grades. Many auto insurance companies will reduce your premium if your teen has maintained a 3.0 GPA.
- Trade in your old cell phones for cash at CellForCash.com and Flipswap.com. Both sites let you print a prepaid mailing label to mail your phones to them.
- Go to CouponMom.com to print free coupons. I really like this site because many of the coupons are really worth clipping, not like those “buy 12 cans of dog food and get 50 cents off”…..right!
- Check your newspaper for your local grocers’ specials for the week. You can pick up and stock up on some great deals!
- When one of your “normally purchased” food items goes on sale at the grocery store stock up on it! Y ou’ll save money in the long run if you buy it at a discount rather than paying full price for it every time you run out of it.
